Gratitudes and Affirmations

Gratitudes & Affirmations

Psalm 107:1 (NIV) -“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.”

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV) – “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

“Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.” — Charles Dickens

Life is all about perspective. I believe that if we start each day by being thankful for what we have, it will change our perspective and remind us of all we have that is good. Hopefully, when times do get tough, or the normal bumps of the day come along, we have that anchor and foundation that started in thankfulness.

Proverbs 23:7 – As he thinks in his heart, so is he.

There is so much power in the words that we speak. What do you think of yourself? How do you talk to yourself? Are you fat, lazy, stupid, need I go on? We are harder on ourselves usually more-so than anyone else could be on us. Or, others have cut us down in the past and we have come to believe that and spoken those things upon ourselves. It’s time to reverse this ugly process we have participated in for so long! You are a child of God, you are beautiful, you are useful, you are making a difference, you are valuable, you are becoming a picture of health, you are intelligent! Speak life to yourself each morning and watch yourself transform!

In Atomic Habits, James Clear says, “decide who you want to be and then practice it.” When we focus on outcome based results, we get discouraged and it doesn’t last. But, if we could change our identity, we could change our results. For example, “would a healthy person eat that? I am a healthy person, therefore, I will eat the vegetables. I am an athlete, so an athlete would exercise and care for their body.”
